Associate DVM
Hi, I'm Dr. Vandenheuvel (you may know me as Dr. Van!) from Animal Oasis of the Rockies. I grew up in the beautiful beach town of Santa Cruz, California. Although it’s a popular coastal spot, people are often surprised to learn that I’m not a fan of the beach and have a fear of sharks. I won’t go into the water past my knees!
My Journey to Veterinary Medicine
I received my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences Veterinary School.
My love for animals and my desire to serve my community are what led me to become a veterinarian. I wanted to be an important member of my community, helping to ensure the health and happiness of pets and their owners. Being a veterinarian allows me to fulfill this goal every day.
What I Love About Being a Vet
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is getting to know my clients and their pets. I love building bonds with both the owners and their furry friends. Seeing pets excited to visit me makes my job so much easier and more enjoyable. The connections we form are truly special.
My professional interests are dermatology, behavior, and internal medicine.
The best part about working at Animal Oasis of the Rockies is undoubtedly the clients. It might sound cheesy, but everyone here is incredibly nice and deeply loves their pets. Colorado is a big animal state, and it’s wonderful to be part of a community where pet care is highly valued and appreciated.
I’m grateful to be part of the Animal Oasis of the Rockies team, where I can combine my passion for animals with my commitment to community service. Every day brings new opportunities to make a difference in the lives of pets and their owners.
